Bill banning lobbyists with criminal history may face legal challenge
The ethics bill that prompted howls from super-lobbyist-and-convicted-felon Bruce Bereano — a measure to prohibit people convicted of certain crimes from lobbying Baltimore County government — was reintroduced in expanded form and passed Monday night, according to The Towson Times.
Turns out the tweaked measure now also covers union lobbyists, including Michael Day, president of the Baltimore County Professional Firefighters Union. Day, who plead guilty 15 years ago to misdemeanor charges involving a pyramid scheme, told the Times he would challenge the bill.
