Baltimore man arrested in plot to blow up Catonsville recruiting station

A man was arrested today in connection with a plan to use a car to blow up a military recruiting center in Catonsville, the Washington website TBD.com is reporting, citing ABC 7 news/AssociatedPress.

“The man, identified by ABC News as Antonio Martinez, aka Muhammed Hussain, planned to attack the center “with what he believed to be a vehicle bomb,” according to U.S. Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Marcia Murphy, tbd reports.

Citing ” a source familiar with the investigation,” WBAL-TV 11’s Jayne Miller said that, “the man arrested is a U.S. national of Nicaraguan descent who is a recent convert to Islam.”

According to The Baltimore Sun, the U.S. Attorney’s office is saying the man was arrested this morning at the Armed Forces Center in the 5400 block of Baltimore National Pike, and that, “the explosives were inert and the suspect had been carefully monitored by law enforcement for months.”
