FLOOD VIDEO: “Hope the rats went with it”

Above: Deep flash-flooding from last night’s storm washing trash along a Baltimore street – and, ultimately most likely, to the harbor and the bay.

In these two excellent videos posted yesterday, trash and even a log float by on the river of flood water that washed through a Baltimore street during yesterday’s storm.

The post-er, “Matt Perry,” (or anyone who recognizes the street) is welcome to say where this is.

(Or tell us that it was actually shot in Philadelphia in 2010, in which case we’ll have to hang our heads and swear off user-generated content for a day or two.)

Update from Brew contributor Gerald Neily: “That’s Kenwood Avenue, looking south toward Little Pulaski and Fayette Street in East Baltimore. There is a huge storm drain under that street, previously known as Harris Creek, which obviously was not up to the task.”

The video below looks like the same spot, but with an amazing amount of trash bobbing along on the surface of the river, formerly known as a street. Is this what they mean when they talk about “the waste stream?”

ADDED:
Here’s more storm footage. This video is from reader Justin Henderson – a view through the windshield wipers showing what driving on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. was like yesterday.

Finally, here’s some video of the gush of water that collapsed a part of the ceiling in the lobby at the Hilton Baltimore yesterday. (This would be the city-owned hotel that, according to audits released earlier this year, lost nearly $11.5 million in 2011 — about $400,000 more than it lost the previous year.)
