I find the twitter updates helpful & interesting, especially because I don't have time to read full articles throughout the day to try to decipher what the update was from a few hours prior, but agree with the Sun that it's totally against the Court's regulations and shouldn't be allowed inside the courtroom. (Hallway, sure.)

What I totally find irresponsible in this article, though is this quote: "Our take? Live blogging is helpful – if for nothing else than to tell other reporters when to get down to the courthouse because something’s happening!". If you're reporting on the trial, report on the trial from the Courthouse, not sitting in an office somewhere waiting for someone else to do the dirty work and send you a bat signal to head down to get the scoop. That's just plain lazy.

Great site, but a little too much dancing on the grave of print journalism. You'll know you've made it when you're not spending inches on the Sun and the Post.

I have to agree with Joseph White. As much as I am a tweet geek I am not in favor of texting, tweeting, live-blogging from a courtroom. Since I also write about science, I am also not in favor of tweeting, texting etc. from certain scientific meetings either. Does this impede the flow of information to the public? Yes. Is there a reason for it? Yes. It the judge set the rule, then the judge should enforce the rule. Even so, the Dixon trial is huge waste of time and money. There are much bigger fish to fry in the city of Baltimore and Sheila Dixon's Gift-Card Gate is not one of them. Move along...nothing to see here.

The Sun still has reporters, other than Liz Bowie? I am shocked, really shocked.

Can we ask them to stop dropping off the advertising crap with which they litter our neighborhoods on Wednesdays, just to boost their circulation?

PLEASE!!

The real lesson for parasites like Quinton is that they will be left chewing nothing but their cud if the MSM they disdain go out of business. It's clear that the news business has to change its distribution methods drastically, but unless reporters like those on the Dixon case are doing the real work, these so-called bloggers will have nothing to write about.

I think it's an outrageous breach of protocol to tweet from any courtroom. If I were a judge, I would confiscate any cell phone or other elctronic device used during a trial.

There has to be some respect for the judicial procedure left in this country. The integrity of the court should not be violated.
