VIDEO: New Bernstein ad knocks Jessamy on one-witness cases
A new commercial from State’s Attorney candidate Gregg Bernstein suggests that incumbent Patricia C. Jessamy has been negligent in prosecuting certain kinds of crime cases in Baltimore.
The Bernstein spot revolves around Doris Dangerfield, the mother of murdered youth activist and city housing employee Angelo Dangerfield.
In 2009, according to the Sun, two men allegedly arrested in relation to the crime were released and the investigation was shut down because it was a single-witness case.
“This could happen to any mother, who has an innocent son,” Dangerfield says in the commercial.
Bernstein claimed in a press release that addresses his new ad that Jessamy has failed to sufficiently address single-witness cases in Baltimore and that, if elected, he will “review all single-witness murder cases personally.”
Asked about this in a July 19 appearance. Jessamy said that “it doesn’t do anybody any good” to bring cases without enough evidence because they can’t be tried again.
