BALTIMORE LIQUOR BOARD COMMENDS LICENSEES FOR CHECKING ID (12/11/13 press release, complete text)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

December 11, 2013—The Board of Liquor License Commissioners announced today that 11 businesses recently passed a compliance check by refusing to serve or sell alcoholic beverages to underage Baltimore Police cadets.

Board Chairman Stephan W. Fogleman praised the establishments that successfully challenged the underage cadets and requested identification.

“Often, the Liquor Board is a source of news about licensed establishments who aren’t following the rules. We think it is fair game to let you know when businesses are being compliant as well. We appreciate the vigilance employed by the vast majority of our licensed establishments who refuse to serve alcohol to minors.”

The Liquor Board fined 10 establishments who did not card the undercover Baltimore Police cadets at the December 5 board hearing.
