Major sewer spill reported in Hunt Valley
Baltimore County reported a large sewer overflow that took place yesterday near Ashland Road east of York Road.
The flow, which began at 2 p.m. yesterday, was contained early this morning, the Public Works Department said in a media release.
The spill released an estimated 1.65 million gallons of sewage near Western Run, which flows into the Loch Raven Reservoir.
A private utility contractor reportedly drilled through a sewer line near Industry Lane (Hunt Valley) on January 30, leading to the sewage release yesterday.
The public is advised to avoid contact with the waste water. The County Department of Health is currently monitoring water quality in Western Run.
