18 years in prison for robber detective on the Gun Trace Task Force
Marcus Taylor was convicted by a federal jury last February.
U.S. District Court Judge Catherine Blake sentenced former Baltimore Police Detective Marcus Taylor to 18 years in prison for robbery and overtime fraud while a member of the Gun Trace Task Force.
Taylor, 30, and co-conspirator Daniel Thomas Hersl were convicted on racketeering conspiracy, racketeering and Hobbs Act Robbery by a federal jury last February.
According to evidence presented at the trial, Taylor and Hersl stole money, property, and narcotics from Baltimore residents, swore out false affidavits, submitted false official incident reports, and engaged in large-scale overtime and attendance fraud.
In some instances, as much as $200,000 was taken by the officers from their victims.
Taylor’s sentencing follows a 25-year sentence handed out today by Judge Blake to Wayne Earl Jenkins, the officer in charge of the GTTF
Hersl is set to be sentenced on June 22.
