MTA's 11/13/14 email to Brian Levy

Nov. 13, 2014
Dear Mr. Levy

Thank you for your letter alerting us to the problems you have been having with Local Bus Line #13. We regret you have been subjected to such a frustrating series of event but hope the actions the Maryland Transit Administration plans to improve service on the #13 route, however may allay your concerns.

MTA monitors the system regularly. When we receive complaints on a specific bus route, we work with the Office of Service Quality (OSQ) to remedy the problem. OSQ has been notified and will conduct a Route Study for #13. The study will focus on what conditions are causing the delays and overcrowding.

MTA is always exploring opportunities to improve. We are currently exploring the increased use of articulated buses which will alleviate overcrowding. Over the next five years projects such as Bus Stop Optimization and Bus Network Improvement project will focus on our local routes. These projects will have an enormous impact on customer service, operations and scheduling.

We understand that public transportation at times can be problematic. MTA apologizes for not meeting your service needs as mentioned in your email. We are dedicated to improving our service. Thank you for taking the time to contact MTA.

If you need any future assistance of any type please contact us at 410-539-5000 (trip planning, events information, all MTA transportation information), or follow on our web page www.MTA.Maryland.gov. If you wish to discuss this with me further, I can be reached at the email address supplied with this letter or at 410-767-8358.

Sincerely,
Patricia Guiles, Deputy Director; MTA Office of Customer and Community Relations
