Lit on Light: New Mercury reading tonight
Former Sun reporters read tonight at New Mercury’s final summer reading on Light Street

Tonight the New Mercury reading series will host its final reading of the summer featuring former Baltimore Sun writers Rashod Ollison, Rafael Alvarez, and Heather Dewar. The mission fueling the George Nathan and H.L. Mencken-founded nonfiction reading series (sponsored by CityLit and organized by journalists Deborah Rudacille and John Barry) is to provide a “realistic presentation of the whole gaudy, gorgeous American scene.”
Today, the series’ original 1924 mission is perpetuated by the work of local independent writers and journalists such as Alvarez, a former Sun City Desk reporter and writer for the WIRE, former Sun reporter and environment writer Heather Dewar, and former Sun critic and entertainment writer Rashod Ollison.
The reading takes place tonight, July 28 at 7 pm at Jordan Faye Contemporary, 1401 Light Street. Beer and wine will be served and donations are accepted. Event cosponsored by CityLit.
Visit the New Mercury website for full bios, event details, and past and future readings.
