Why is the Baltimore Brew telling you about something in New York?

Though she owns a gallery in Manhattan, VanDerBeek is a Baltimore native, and her collection of photos includes a beautiful image of a moon that she found in the house where she grew up in Baltimore.

The image, entitled “Blue Eclipse,” is a photo of a photo of a 1969 lunar eclipse.

Says the New Yorker’s Andrea K. Scott: “The picture’s double identity – at once an image and its echo – sets off a chain of dualities: home and away, past and present, shadow and form, vision and memory.”
