Baltimore City Public School officials are releasing new information today on Mark Citro, the 47-year-old school volunteer arrested yesterday and charged with impersonating a police officer and abusing a 14-year-old boy at Friendship Academy of Engineering and Technology, as reported in The Baltimore Sun.

According to a news release from North Avenue, Citro had no prior criminal record, only worked with the particular student in question and was not in contact with other students. Citro was introduced to the school by the victim’s family as a mentor for the student in question, according to the email from Edie-House Foster, a spokeswoman for the school system.

The school is located on East Northern Parkway.
