Burke’s restaurant to become a Royal Farms
Burke’s Cafe and Restaurant may have been, in its final days, “a dark, hole-in-the-wall dive,” as one Yelp reviewer put it, but it has a long proud history and a fabulous downtown Baltimore location. Just right for someone to snap up and make over, one would think.
But the owners of 76-year-old Burke’s have sold their building at the corner of Lombard and Light Streets to Royal Farms and now this once-popular purveyor onion rings, oysters and martinis is set to become a convenience store, The Baltimore Sun reported today.
The 16,000 square foot structure, just blocks from the Inner Harbor, was listed at $2.6 million and sold to Royal Farms for about $2 million.
