As Baltimore’s Carmelo Anthony heads off to join the New York Nicks, sportswriters are re-telling the NBA star’s life story and this description from a New York Daily News piece caught our eye.
“Carmelo’s mother, Mary, maintained the household, raising her children in the midst of rough-and-tumble circumstances in a raggedy stretch of Baltimore known as “Murder Ave.”
Turns out, as the local press less sensationally tells it, the street the New York-born Anthony was raised on was West Baltimore’s “Myrtle Avenue.”
